Overcoming fear and anxiety...

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest
fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light,
not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented
and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a
child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to
make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just
in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light
shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do
the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence
automatically liberates others.”-Marrianne Williamson

In An Invitation to Personal Peace, We devote an entire chapter on how to work through fear instead of letting fear work on you.

Let me ask you a question: What dream has fear taken away from your life? How does that make you feel?

Some years ago, I noticed a certain fear confronting me whenever I started to write a book. The Inner voice would go something like this "You're getting to big for your britches!"

Can you guess what happened next?
Okay, I'll tell you.
Frustration with myself for giving in to a voice that kept me small in the world.

Frustration and Inner Peace aren't a great match.

This all changed when I changed my reaction to my fear.

Instead of giving into the fear I used thought and action to confront it.

I started saying " We'll I'm up to something big."(thought)

I then proceeded to write (action).

This led to me to Personal Peace.

If I listened to the voice that limited my spirit, An Invitation to Personal Peace may not have been born.

Use the 5 simple exercises today in An Invitation to Personal Peace to walk through fear with boldness and courage.

Your desires are waiting for you. Don't disappoint them.

Believe in yourself today.

Make your Destiny a masterpiece.

What is holding you back?

There are a number of things that can hold you back from creating and living your best life.

I find it helpful in my coaching to think in terms of five broad categories that can contribute to holding people back. Think of these as they relate to yourself.

The first category is related to clarity. Some people are held back because they don't know what they are trying to create.

Another category is related to "the plan". You need a clear game plan to achieve your most desired outcomes.

Another is related to "skills". Do you have the skills you need to accomplish your big dream? Maybe there is a skill set you need to develop.

The fourth potential area that may be holding you back is your inner life. By that I mean things like your beliefs, your attitude, your confidence level, and your overall mindset. Do you have the current consciousness you need to achieve your dreams?

A fifth area that maybe holding you back is your environment. Is your environment, and the people in it, supportive of the direction you want to move in?

Ask yourself questions about these five areas. If you feel stale, stuck or stagnant in anyway I encourage you to consider coaching to help you move forward.

More ideas on Spring Cleaning Your Life

I would like to offer you three quick ideas to guide your Spring Cleaning Your Life acitivites.

Idea #1: Out with the old, in with the new. Get rid of stuff, habits, beliefs, relationships, friends, etc. that no longer serve.

Idea #2: Revisit old dreams, passions and plans. Were there plans, dreams, hopes, wishes, goals etc. that you had put away due to lack of time, deciding you needed to be "realistic," others' disapproval, fears, and so on? Revisit them. Reclaim them.

Idea #3: Commit to healthly habits. Since this is a major change time, why not commit to renewing or developing healthy habits, like exercise, meditation, healthy eating, regular spiritual or religious practices, and so on?

Check out this show I did on Tuesday with some simple ideas to improve your health habits.

Are you ready to spring clean your life?

“Identify the things that drain you and eliminate them--people, places, and things--once and for all.”
-Cheryl Richardson

A friend and mentor of mine, John DiLemme, introduced me to the concept of “addition by subtraction”. My sense of what he meant was that having a quality life involves not only involve adding things and developing new healthy ritual, but also means “cleaning house”.

This is important in the area of relationships.

Ask yourself:

Do you have toxic people in your life?

Do you have people in your life that are on a different and perhaps incompatible path?

You only have one life to live. You may as well make it as happy, meaningful and filled with peace as you can. Don’t waste your time with people who are consumed with negativity. This is not a judgment. Wish them well, but do it from a distance. I refer to folks like this as emotional vampires or dream stealers.

There are other areas of your life that are important to look at as long as you are in Spring Cleaning mode. Your Environment. Your Health. Your Work. And Your Behavior.

I spoke about this topic on my Blog Talk Radio Show today. I referred for it as Spring Cleaning Your Life. It is a simple, yet powerful concept. I encourage you to jump on the Spring Cleaning bandwagon by listening to this audio at:
